Carotid Ultrasound

  • The carotid ultrasound uses sound waves to assess how well blood vessels carry blood to the brain.

  • There are no special preparations required for this test, you can eat and drink as normal and continue to take your usual medications.

  • You will be asked to lie flat on bed.​

    ​The sonographer will scan your neck arteries using gel and a small ultrasound probe in order to record images to be reported by our doctor.

  • You will be able to leave immediately after the test. Our doctor will report the test results to your doctor. You will need to make an appointment to see your doctor to discuss the results. ​
